Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins - Recipe

Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins


  • 1 cup whole wheat flour 
  • 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour 
  • ½ cup sugar 
  • 2 tbsp baking powder 
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt 
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg 
  • 2 egg(s) 
  • 1 cup buttermilk 
  • ½ cup canola oil 
  • 2 cup(s) fresh or frozen blueberries


  • In a big bowl, combine all the dry ingredients - both types of flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. 
  • In a separate bowl, add all the wet ingredients - eggs, buttermilk and oil.
  • Combine both these bowls till a soft mixture is formed. Gently mix in the blueberries as well. 
  • Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  • Take a pan/mould for cupcakes, and grease it all over with butter. Add the mixture to these moulds with a toothpick to check whether they are cooked. 
  • Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the toothpick comes out clean. 
  • Rest on a cooling rack, decorate the way you like, and serve warm with your favorite beverage.
