  • 1 to 1½  tablespoon of Sugar
  • 1 to 1½  tablespoon of Brown Sugar or Demerara Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of India Gate Maida
  • 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder (Dalchini)
  • ½ teaspoon of Salt

Top Crust

  • 2 to 2½ tablespoons of Milk
  • 1 tablespoon of Honey
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar for sprinkling

Step 1.

Our first step for making the Homemade Whole Wheat Apple pie we will make the apple filling. Wash the apples properly and peel the apple. Then cut them into dice pieces.

Step 2.

Take a large mixing bowl and add the sliced apples, brown sugar, normal sugar, salt, cinnamon powder and finally to enhance the flavor mix the India Gate Maida. Mix all these ingredients until the apple dice are coated properly with the mixture.

Step 3.

Our next step is to make the crust. We will have to make the crust by hand. In a large mixing bowl, we need to take the India Gate Maida, salt, and sugar and mix them. Then work the chilled salted butter into the mixture with your hands and don’t stop until the texture resembles the same a coarse sand.

Step 4.

Now, sprinkle the ice-cold water onto the dough and push the dough with your hands in an inward direction, like from the sides to the middle. This will help you form a ball that is going to hold together.

Step 5.

Now add just enough water required to form the dough. Make sure that there is not too much moisture in the dough and the latter should be a bit tight.

Step 6.

Divide the dough into two separate balls and wrap them with cling film wrap and then refrigerate it for approximately 2 hours.

Step 7.

Grease or brush a baking pan with butter and preheat the oven at approximately 163 to 165 C.

Step 8.

After 2 hours of refrigeration, it is time to use the dough and assemble the whole “Homemade whole wheat apple pie”. Generously flour the surface on which you are going to work. Put 1 part of the chilled pie crust on the floured surface and use the bottom of your palms, press down the dough to make it even and flat. Then pull it outward to expand the dough. Now take a rolling pin, and flatten the dough to a big round of quarter-inch thickness.

Step 9.

Once the last step is complete, transfer the flattened dough to the prepared baking pan. Gently press the dough to fill the edges of the pan.

Step 10.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie dough. Then spread it throughout equally. Wrap the second flattened dough above the filling. Wrap the overlaps over the sides sealing them together.

Step 11.

Blend the milk and honey in a small mixing bowl and graze the top of the apple pie with it, this gives a good appearance and texture to the crust. Lastly, cut small splits to serve as vents all over the top in order to allow the steam to escape and preserve merely sufficient dampness required for the apple pie.

Step 12.

Put the baking pan with the batter in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes to 45 minutes, until the crust turns golden brown.

Step 13.

After the crust turns golden brown, take the pie out and let it rest for 10 minutes to 15 minutes.

Step 14.

Cut the delicious and pleasant Homemade Whole Wheat Apple Pie into wedges and drizzle a bit of icing sugar on each piece and finally serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
